TMU – Cathedral Cut to Length Project

GBI, in partnership with the US Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, is seeking Contractors to implement the Cathedral Cut-to-Length Project (Project). The Project includes approximately 166.9 acres of National Forest System Land within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. The project contains 7 cutting units generally located around South Lake, California and Fallen Leaf Lake, California, and is an element of the larger South Tahoe Fuels Treatment Project area.

The Project is intended to reduce hazardous fuels, move stands toward mature and resilient conditions, and complete the road work necessary to support implementation. Implementation measures generally involve the use of mechanical, cut-to-length harvesting systems and supporting systems and activities to cut and remove merchantable and non-merchantable material from the project area. The project consists of the following four work items: (1) Cut-to-Length thinning; (2) Cut-to-Length fuels and biomass treatment; (3) removal of slash at landings; and (4) road maintenance and erosion control. Selected bidders will also be expected to purchase and merchandise or otherwise remove merchantable timber from the project area.
